What dark dreams do
Seeds dream when not knowing the light
They shed their skin
And bear their soul
Skyward to the soil
What does the shoot know
Of sun and breeze
While parting the earth heavenward
Through mud and
Worm highways
What memory does the tree
Shading and cooling,
Sighing in the breeze,
Recall of the time
Before it knew the day
Before bearing seeds to the wind.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24 (ESV)
